Fans of the 90's Rejoice: Here Come The Whigs

Feeling kind of like a more muscley Catfish Haven fronted by a vocal-range-restricted Jim James , this Athens, Georgia-based band is getting me sort of amped for some warm weather boozing. Don't know why, but I get a major 80s/90s-era garage vibe from this band ("Hot Bed" is reminiscent of the Pixies), and I mean that in the best possible way. This feeling is probably compounded by the fact that the video sort of reminds me of the intro to Nickelodeon's "The Adventures of Pete and Pete."

the beginning of the whigs song reminds me of the beginning of a fall out boy song...not sure why.

i really like their voices though and i can't wait to hear the download.

I saw The Whigs last night on Conan and thought they were pretty good, although I would have to say I was a little disappointed ...

I thought they were going to be a tribute band to the Whig Party of the United States during the era of Jacksonian democracy.

I thought maybe they were all going to dress up as President William Henry Harrison (who is best known for dying 31 days into his term after catching pneumonia during his inaugural address) ... or maybe Abraham Lincoln who was a Whig leader in frontier Illinois, before becoming a leader in the newly developed Republican Party.

Anyway, The Whigs do seem like they will be a very enjoyable band to kick back and listen to as I sip mint juleps on my front stoop enjoying the warm summer breezes of Anytown, USA.

Although, I am still a little peeved they don't dress in traditional 1840's attire during their performances.
