I never got in on the ground floor with Weezer, sorry I had a relatively happy and enjoyable adolescence. BUT I just stumbled upon one of songs off their much anticipated Red Album and think I may be jumping on the bandwagon about fifteen years too late. The song's called "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived." It seems to be an homage to notoriously crazy frontman Rivers Cuomo's notoriously crazy life in the limelight.
On one hand this premise represents everything wrong with becoming a famous musician: you eventually stop writing songs about actual drugs and sex and feelings and start writing songs about writing songs about actual drugs and sex and feelings. On the other hand, the opening line is "You try to play it cool like you just don't care/But soon I'll be playin in your underwear." Point: Cuomo.
