SCOPE Productions is pleased to announce Nas and Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley will perform in the IMU Main Lounge on September 8th at 9:30 PM. Doors open at 8:30 PM.
Hip Hop legends Nas and Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley came together in early 2009 to create an album that would show the truth about social and political strife in Africa and America. Thus Distant Relatives was produced, a strikingly powerful record that illustrates the current state of the world. The record, released in May 2010, sold 57,000 copies and debuted at number 5 on the Billboard Top 100. Mixing Hip Hop and Reggae along with Marley’s signature “toasting,” a Jamaican style of rapping, the duo fill listeners with knowledge of how the world is changing. While songs like “As We Enter”, “Strong Will Continue” and “CountYour Blessings ” highlight the collaboration between Nas and Marley, the show also features each artist's solo work.
Tickets go on sale August 12th at 10:00 AM at all Ticketmaster locations. A limited amount of discounted student tickets will be available starting August 23rd at the University Box Office where students can UBILL up to 8 tickets with a valid student ID. Discounted student tickets are provided with the help of the Office of Student Life.
