Last night a little SCOPE contingent headed north to Minneapolis to catch Augustana in concert (review to come). Yes I know driving five hours for a show during finals week is reckless and idiotic. My only explanation: we did not Map Quest directions to the venue until after we bought tickets. No matter how we got ourselves into the road trip, it was definitely worth it because we got to discover some new talent for you lovely blog readers.Concert opener David Ford is a British singer/songwriter who mixes his own songs live on stage a la Andrew Bird. His performance was so convincing, my roomie bought his CD, Songs for the Road, at the merch stand and we've been spinning all day. The song below, "Go to Hell," kicked off his set and immediately captivated the audience. My favorite line: "My sweet indecision/Do you think I’d wait around for you?" Sharply written, expertly executed. Enjoy.
